    U potrazi za odrednicama proizvodnje mlijeka na tržištima u nastajanju: pristup uporabe panel podataka

    In view of the growing importance of the dairy sector, especially for the livelihood of the rural population and the increasing demand for milk by the Indian population, higher yield of milk animals and milk availability have become the focal point of attention. This study aims to identify the determinants of dairy production in India by examining the relationship of crossbreed and buffalo populations with the quantity of milk production across different Indian states. Fifteen major Indian states were included in this study and relevant secondary data from 2001 to 2019 was taken for analysis. The sources of statistical data are BAHS (GOI), Statistical abstract, NDDB website, etc. Coarse cereal, fodder crops, grazing land, artificial insemination and veterinary services have an influence on the total milk production of the Indian states, and the significance of these impacts were tested by pooled OLS regression analysis. Crossbreed cows, indigenous cows, buffalo and goat populations were tested with the Spearman’s rho correlation test, and these variables were also found to have a positive correlation with the quantity of total milk production (TMP). The study was further extended to compare the population strength of the crossbreed and buffalo, their growth rate and ultimately the status of average milk production across the major Indian states during the period 2001 to 2019. Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Punjab and Andhra Pradesh were found to have healthy production of milk. However, Bihar and Rajasthan were found as promising states. States like Orissa, Kerala, Uttarakhand and West Bengal were found to have certain points of concern.S obzirom na sve veću važnost mljekarskog sektora, posebice za život ljudi u ruralnim područjima te sve veću potražnju za mlijekom indijske populacije, veći prinos životinja koje proizvode mlijeko i dostupnost mlijeka postali su fokalna točka pozornosti. Cilj ove studije jest prepoznati odrednice proizvodnje mlijeka u Indiji te ispitati odnos populacija hibrida i bizona s količinom proizvodnje mlijeka u različitim državama Indije. Petnaest je velikih država Indije za ovu studiju uzeto u obzir te su odgovarajući sekundarni podatci analizirani od 2001. do 2009. godine. Izvor statističkih podataka je BAHS (Osnovni podatci o stočarstvu) (Vlada Indije), statistički sažetak, web stranica NDDB (Nacionalni odbor za razvoj mljekarstva), itd. Utjecaj grubih žitarica, krmnih biljaka, pašnjaka, umjetne oplodnje i usluga veterinarskih zavoda je ispitan s obzirom na njegovo značenje putem modela s konstantnim regresijskim parametrima (Pooled OLS regression analysis). Grube žitarice, krmno bilje, pašnjaci, umjetno osjemnjivanje i veterinarske usluge od značajnog su utjecaja na sveukupnu proizvodnju mlijeka država Indije. Osim toga, populacije hibridnih krava, autohtonih krava, bizona i koza ispitane su putem Spearmanovog rho korelacijskog testa te je otkriveno da i ove varijable imaju pozitivnu korelaciju s obzirom na količinu ukupne proizvodnje mlijeka (TMP). Studija je dodatno proširena grafičkim prikazima za usporedbu jačine populacije hibridnih krava i bizona među različitim državama, njihove stope rasta i na kraju statusa prosječne proizvodnje mlijeka u velikim državama Indije tijekom razdoblja od 2001. do 2019. Za Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Punjab i Andhra Pradesh otkriveno je da imaju zdravu proizvodnju mlijeka. Međutim, Bihar i Rajasthan su se pokazale obećavajućim državama.     Spatial and Socioeconomic Analysis of Purposeful Mobile Internet Use in US States

    The digital divide in the United States has received renewed attention during the COVID-19 pandemic. As achievement of digital equity remains a high priority, this study examines spatial patterns and socioeconomic determinants of the purposeful use of mobile internet for personal and business needs in US states. Agglomerations of mobile internet use are identified using K-means clustering and the extent of agglomeration is measured using spatial autocorrelation analysis. Regression analysis reveals that mobile internet use is associated with employment in management, business, science, and arts occupations, affordability, age structure, and the extent of freedom in US states. Spatial randomness of regression residuals shows the effectiveness of the conceptual model to account for spatial bias. Implications of these findings are discussed

    Spatial and Multivariate Analysis of Japan’s Prefectural Digital Divide

    This study of the digital divide within Japan utilizes data from Japan’s 47 prefectures for spatial analysis of distributions of technology utilization variables. It analyzes the spatial outliers and clusters of prefectures for the country. The paper constructs a conceptual model based on 10 dependent factors and 17 independent ones. The relationship of the independent to dependent factors is moderated by exploratory analysis of spatial patterns of technology utilization and by confirmatory analysis of correlates of technology utilization, while screening for spatial randomness. Geographical findings indicate areas of outlier high and low technology use as well as distinctive cluster patterns for the four major islands of Japan. Regression findings show the significance to technology utilization of newspaper circulation, patents registered by Japanese citizens, students and pupils per capita, household expenditures on education, farm household population (inverse), and young dependency ratio (mixed positive and negative).     Internet Use and Online Activities in U.S. States: Geographic Disparities and Socio-economic Influences

    Attention in the digital divide research agenda is shifting gradually from material access of information and communication technologies (ICTs) to actual use of ICTs. As internet usage increases worldwide and online activities concomitantly expand in range and sophistication, it becomes essential to examine patterns and disparities of such usage. This paper examines geographic patterns and disparities along with influences of demographic, economic, and social factors on internet use in U.S. states. Our conceptual model of internet use posits associations of 21 traditional (socio-economic) as well as non-traditional independent variables (social capital, societal openness, innovation, infrastructure, and affordability) with dependent indicators of e-communication, e-commerce, e-education, e-entertainment, e-health, and telework. Age, race/ethnicity, innovation, urban location, managerial and scientific occupations, and social capital are found to predominantly influence internet use spanning a range of online activities. Policy implications of these findings are discussed taking cognizance of geographic disparities in internet use among the fifty states

    Geographic Patterns and Socio-Economic Influences on Mobile Internet Access and Use in United States Counties

    As mobile devices rapidly proliferate and internet services expand concomitantly, a confluence of the two enables users to access the internet on their mobile-cellular devices for a variety of purposes. In this paper, we examine mobile adoption and mobile internet usage in 3,108 counties of the United States for e-entertainment and e-commerce purposes. Spatial patterns of mobile internet adoption and usage are explored to understand the extent of the mobile internet digital divide in the US. Using the Spatially Aware Technology Utilization Model, socio-economic, innovation, affordability, and social capital influences on mobile adoption and mobile internet use are examined. Spatial dimensions of county-level mobile internet activity and evidence of strong association of geodemographic and tariff variables emphasize the importance of market forces on mobile internet usage. Policies to bridge the mobile internet digital divide are recommended based upon the significant influence of market factors, innovation, and affordability
